ACTIVITY What We Are Working On

JADE

JADE (JAXA Asteroid Data Explorer) is a system that makes it possible to view data of asteroid Ryugu images taken by the optical navigation camera (ONC) aboard asteroid explorer Hayabusa2 and apply various search conditions to the data. We designed it for everyone from researchers to the general public to use.

It is difficult to identify and spatially comprehend the position of images taken from asteroid Ryugu since it is a celestial body with an irregular shape. With that in mind, we made it possible in JADE to switch between two-dimensional equirectangular projections and three-dimensional numerical shape models. It also offers graphical operations using a mouse to highlight areas on each respective map as well as various search functions such as filtering by numerical values specified for latitude and longitude or observation angle.

ONC’s data archived in PDS4 has already been published by the ONC team.

We believe that using this system will make it easier to find and also utilize the data you seek.

We also plan to update JADE and make it an even easier system to use going forward.
