At JLPEDA, we produce and publish various maps of the Moon and other celestial bodies plus other data products that contribute to scientific research and public relations.

Lunar Pole Landing Site Posters

Lunar Pole Landing Site Posters

At JLPEDA, we analyze various conditions such as sunlight, earth visibility, slope, and obstacles, to provide data that contributes to the selection of landing sites in various projects. We provide full-year maps of sunlight rates, communication visibility rates, and slopes, for an approximately 360 km2 area centered around the south pole of the Moon.

Moon Posters

We produce elevation and false coloration maps, and also publish these two types of maps.

Hyperspectral map of the Moon

Hyperspectral map of the Moon
in visible and near infrared wavelengths

The Spectral Profiler (SP) on the KAGUYA (SELENE) orbiter took observations in the 0.5-2.6 micrometer wavelength range to obtain spectroscopic data of approximately 70 million points on the lunar surface. See our hyperspectral maps of lunar surface albedo which we produced using SP data.

Slopes, elevations, and gravitational acceleration on the surface of Phobos

Slopes, elevations, and gravitational acceleration
on the surface of Phobos

We produce analyses on the slopes, elevations, and gravitational acceleration on the surface of Phobos, which we provide to aid in the selection of landing sites.
