ABOUT Our Concept
The JAXA Lunar and Planetary Exploration Data Analysis Group (JLPEDA) is a group that specializes in using lunar and planetary exploration data to perform analyses that contribute to scientific research, exploration, and investigations.
ACTIVITY What We Are Working On
Read about JLPEDA’s involvement in exploration missions, contributions to the scientific community, and systems to put data obtained from exploration into widespread use.
MISSIONS
(Exploration Mission Contributions)
Through analysis of observation data, JLPEDA supports the investigations conducted in a variety of JAXA projects and missions.
These are missions we have been supporting.

SCIENCE
(Our Products Contributing to Science)
We perform higher-level processing on exploration data obtained from Japanese and international missions as we create products and perform data analyses that contribute to research aimed at elucidating the origins and evolution of the moon and planetary bodies.

ANALYSIS TECHNIQUES
(Research on Analytical Methods)
We conduct joint research with the University of Aizu and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) on methods to analyze exploration data using machine learning.
Through these efforts, analyses that previously had to be done manually by experts can now be conducted on big data, on a large scale.

WEB GIS (Building & Operating Sites
to Display Observation Data)
We develop and operate websites for using maps to search, view, and acquire observation data of the Moon and other celestial objects obtained from JAXA’s scientific satellites.
